About the Society

The Mississippi Sleep Society was formed in 2007 by a core group of Mississippi sleep professionals. The MSS incorporates all aspects of sleep medicine: technologists, physicians, durable medical companies, and medical suppliers.
It is our goal to provide and promote professional education opportunities in sleep medicine across our great state.
This society has been needed for many years as a means of communication among sleep professionals for scientific and education purposes. The MSS promotes the highest standards of training and qualifications as the field continues to grow. We want to assure that patients in Mississippi have reliable, efficacious, and cost effective sleep medicine.

MSS Board

MARTHA SMITH is a manager for Sleep Solutions, LLC of Opelika, AL, and the current PRESIDENT of the Mississippi Sleep Society. For the past twenty eight years, Martha has practiced healthcare in the fields of EMS, DME, Respiratory, and Sleep. She is a registered Polysomnographic Technologist, a licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner, and a member of the American Association of Sleep Technologists. Martha has been instrumental in the development of the Mississippi Sleep Society and is devoted to its success. Martha has two daughters and sons-in-law, Jennifer and BJ, Julie and Darren, and five grandchildren, Hunter, Tanner, Kaelin, Karlie Anne and Abree.

JERRY MCDONALD is the lab manager for Sleep Solutions of Mississippi in Jackson and Madison, MS, and the current SECRETARY of the Mississippi Sleep Society. For nine years, Jerry has practiced healthcare in the fields of Nursing and Sleep. He is a registered Polysomnographic Technologist and a member of the American Association of Sleep Technologists. Jerry is also a member of the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society. Jerry has been a vital player in the development of the Mississippi Sleep Society and is dedicated to the sleep profession. He and his wife, Sharonda, have two children, Christian and Kimora.

GINGER BLATT is the clinical coordinator for the sleep center at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center, Jackson, MS, and part owner of Sleep Analysts, LLC, which is a management company for sleep centers, and the current TREASURER of the Mississippi Sleep Society. She has been in the field of Respiratory and Sleep for thirty nine years and has played an active role in the development of the Mississippi Sleep Society. Ginger is a registered Respiratory Care Practitioner and a registered Polysomnographic Technologist. She is married and has two children, Wes and Whitney.
